A treatment that is finally providing positive results without having devastating side-effects is indeed remarkable. When it comes to a disease that damages neurons at such a degree that the patient will end up not being able to move at all, to think right, and to make decisions, any small improvement is welcome. Let us not forget that CBD has natural sources , coming from a plant, which means that it will be better tolerated by the body.
Their tremors reduced, the rigidity in their muscles loosened, and it was not that difficult to perform various voluntary movements any longer. At the moment, there are insufficient studies and tests on this matter, although the results that have been discovered so far show a promising future for this treatment. Besides helping with the improvement of motor impairments, CBD also helps with diminishing anxiety , depression , and pain , which are associated with the disease and affect, even more importantly, the life quality of a patient.
The fact that cannabis reduces the sensation of pain is well known, being a treatment that was used thousands of years ago for such purposes. CBD has been used for a while to reduce depression and improve the mental stability of many people, regardless of the underlying cause. It works well in the case of anxiety as well, reducing discomfort and cognitive impairment. Also, used in the early stages of the disease, cannabis products can protect neurons from being damaged further.
This is why more studies need to be embarked upon in this direction, because everybody suffering from a disease, especially one that affects the brain, would like to have a chance to lead a decent life and not become entirely dependent on another person for care and everyday tasks.
It also allows people to sleep better and be more active, by reducing pain and improving mobility. All these reasons should be good enough in order for more studies to take place in this particular area. Until an actual cure is found, a treatment that improves life quality will be more than welcome. CBD is entirely safe to be used for medical purposes because it does not have a psychoactive effect. In fact, it helps diminish psychotic episodes, promoting relaxation and a calmer state of mind.
While it may take a while for researchers to fully understand how CBD works in protecting our brain, the positive results speak for themselves and such treatment should be made available as soon as possible.

British Journal of Pharmacology, Journal of Phsychopharmacology, Neurobiology of Disease, Dabbing a bit of cannabis oil is one of the quickest ways to feel the effects. When you vaporize the cannabis oil, as you do when you dab, the vapor is absorbed much more quickly into your bloodstream and reaches your brain much sooner than it would if you ingest it. You will, of course, need a special dabbing rig, but the initial outlay of money is well worth it for the fast-acting high or pain relief you can achieve.
And, of course, you can always rely on the old tried-and-true method of consuming cannabis products: How do you smoke an oil? For a truly out-of-this-world experience, we highly recommend first glazing a joint of your favorite marijuana strain in cannabis oil. Then, cover the whole thing in kief crystals. The resulting combination is a stone cold recreational high!
This much ganja goodness in one place can take you on a truly transcendental trip. Cannabis oil is one of the purest forms of medicinal cannabis. Homemade oil made from marijuana saved Rick Simpson from a debilitating head injury and from skin cancer.
Use 2 gallons 7. We also suggest chilling your alcohol in a freezer overnight. It will separate the trichomes from the flower more easily. Rick Simpson will use shake and trim to make topical solutions for skin afflictions.
However, he insists that only the choicest, trichome-laden, cannabis indica colas should be used to make Canna Oil for treating cancer.
The amount of cannabis oil that each strain can produce will vary, but one ounce of good organic marijuana will typically produce about three to four grams of oil. Next, gather your supplies. Two stainless steel stock pots or food-grade plastic buckets. Stainless steel rice cooker.
A rice cooker with a non-stick surface will leach chemicals into your oil. Stick with stainless steel only. A common electric cooling fan and extension cord. Empty clean plastic bottles. Stainless steel measuring cup. Step 2 Add more alcohol until the plant matter is completely immersed. Step 4 Pour more chilled alcohol into the first bucket until the plant matter is again immersed.
Step 5 Again block the lip of the pot or bucket and slowly pour the solvent from the second wash into the bucket with the solvent from the first wash. Step 6 Leave the solvent to sit while you recycle any leftover plant matter into your compost. Step 7 Rinse out the first bucket. Step 8 Place a coffee filter inside a plastic funnel and insert the funnel through the mouth of a small plastic bottle. Step 9 Set up the rice cooker and the electric fan outside or in a well-ventilated area.
Separate the alcohol from the dissolved cannabis oil. Decarboxylate the cannabis oil. Step 11 Set the rice cooker to its highest setting to boil off the alcohol solvent. Step 15 When the process is near completion, you will notice three things: The leftover oil will emit a crackling sound. Steam will start to escape from the oil. Step 16 Wait for the rice cooker to switch to the low setting and then turn it off.
Step 17 Let your fresh cannaoil mixture cool for about five minutes. Step 18 Pour the mixture into a stainless steel measuring cup, and place the cup on a coffee warmer to completely remove any water remaining in the mixture. Step 19 You know the water has been vaporized when all bubbling has ceased. You can soak it up with a piece of bread and consume it as medicine later. Keep in mind that the effects of edibles can take an hour or more to kick in. Be careful how much oil-soaked bread you consume.
Wash the cup or the pot with a small amount of alcohol. This creates a hemp oil tincture that varies in medicinal value depending on the amount of oil the alcohol contains. Use the isopropyl alcohol tincture on your skin instead. For a tincture you can ingest, wash the rice cooker with a small amount of high-proof drinking alcohol like vodka or Everclear.
Leave the leftovers in the rice cooker for the next time you make cannabis oil. Mixing the oils from different strains can have many beneficial medicinal effects. Place a small amount of loose tobacco in the rice cooker and heat until the oil is absorbed. The cannabis oil reduces many of the harmful properties contained in the tobacco. Cannabis Oil Applications Source: Edible Uses Cannabis oil is much more concentrated than regular cannabis products like the bud you smoke.
Once everything had settled down, I did used to wonder if they'd got that wrong, as I didn't feel as though I had a major breathing issue. Anyway I stopped smoking and probably used the inhaler too much, as though I'd get some sort of buzz from it I think! At least the tests began in earnest because of all that nonsense, with mri scans etc. I'll bet you've got a similar story? I do get breathing troubles now, but it's mainly due to panic, and is exacerbated by the ms - usually at night when need to pee quickly But as you say, that could be mixed with other stuff.
When you say you have yours ground, is it dried then first? Hi Chris, the effect is pretty instant to be honest!! Not like waiting for the prescription drugs to kick in, it's almost immediate. It needs to be dry to be ground. Don't worry about talking about anything on here Chris, you will find everyone will be open about everything! My MS has been more of a slow decline really, RRMS at 1st, now SPMS, it's the bloody nerve pains that have been the most disabling to be honest, can cope with the other things but not this.
Son in law devised this method of taking cannabis, very effective! Anything else you need to know Chris, fire away!! Thanks Tracey, I think that's just it I've got nothing against them, but they just don't seem to cut the mustard! I never take high doses, although I would have I'm sure, if they'd shown any signs they were going to work.
Sometimes it actually seems as though they make things worse They all make you tired I'm sure, so they ought to prescribe something like cannabis I think what you're taking now, is about what I'll be hoping to try. I don't think the 'vaping' would be a problem. Either that method, or the edibles!
Savinex isn't half as good as the real thing Chris, no where near. Do it yourself hun, if you need anymore advice, pm me, nowt I haven't tried, things you do in pain eh?!!!!!!!! Interesting reading about Sativex on the MS Society website. These applications may be turned down. Faced with these barriers some people with MS buy cannabis illegally.
I was wondering about that Tracey I'm in the midlands! Aint nothin like the real thing - hopefully that's true! I've not read many reports saying Sativex is the answer - more that it slightly eases pain and spasticity. That's fair enough, but I like that you say yours is pretty much instant Tracey!
I'll do a pm over the next few days, if that's ok?. I'm finding rrms quite fascinating to learn about I'm confused as to whether rrms, can progress to spms, and then eventually to ppms?
Could I ask, how you have found Sativex over those five years? And l am PPMS. Which means that my MS has always been with me since it started 35yrs ago. Some people have only one 'attack' of MS - then might never have another relapse. My GP told me this is why doctors often do not want to tell their patient they have MS - in the hopes it might not rear it's ugly head again - and the stress and anxiety from knowing you have MS could make it worse.
And most of us suffer with other problems that are auto-immune. Have been looking at ordering some 'hemp tea' - again legal. Both of these meds had me unable to stand - could not function at all. Certainly not drive a car. Since then l found out that they both actually damage muscles when used long term.
My prescription of Sativex lasts me over 2 months. So l try to keep it 'natural'. No other meds or painkillers. No brain fog - better balance. Took about 6 months before l felt it working - and l actually felt worse at times - but l am glad l stuck with it. Doesn't always progress Chris, luck of the draw really, I lost!!
Anyway it is how it is nowadays, hence my 'naughty' habit. The pain is unbearable sometimes, like someone's lit a fire under my feet, horrible. The green stuff takes it away, only way I can sleep. I can understand how sleep deprivation was used as a torture, can't function properly anyway, just makes everything so much worse. I wont be giving it up anytime soon. Wow, many thanks for your excellent reply sj and blimey You know how you look back and can predate the start of your MS to much earlier?
So, for that reason, it is worth looking into the drugs prescribed and considering other options and herbal relievers! Tracey's given me the 'how to' re vaping which looks to be the way. I'm not sure I'd qualify then for Sativex - I've been on baclofen from the beginning - 2 or 3 years before dx.
A few years ago, my neurologist prescribed tizanidine, however my gp wouldn't follow that through, saying you have to come from hospital, having already had a course of the drug..
