So I have been doing some testing and it turns out that its Trend that is killing my login times. Without AV users can login with 27 seconds. With Trend it increases to 57 seconds. I talked to trend all they could really refer me to is the setup docs for VDI while I already have done and making sure my exclusions are correct which they are.
Anyone have this same experience? If so have you been able to make any tweaks to help the login times? Go through this list of exclusions.
Something isn't setup right somewhere. Don't ask - that was a horrible env. We use officescan in our PVS envitoment. Will look over our settings tomorrow, and try to help out mate. We use it in our XA 7. I was told by our vendor that Citrix doesn't recommend using deep security and to use officescan instead. Honestly never looked into why. How long have you been using it in your XA environment? In my experience, Citrix really doesn't make recommendations for software outside of requirements and whether something is technically supported vs unsupported.
I'd bet you got the vendor's opinion, not one from Citrix. If I remember correctly, Forefront was the consultant's favorite but that wasn't an option so I didn't ask why.
We've been running Trend Deep Security for a little over 1. Initially it was deployed during our XA 7. A sister company running XA 7. Since I work in a corporate environment, infosec manages Trend so I don't do anything with it on a day-to-day basis. Also, make sure that the trend appliances are tied to a host. I've seen a host go down and an appliance migrate to another VMware host. Things can get a bit goofy if that happens. Host affinity rules help there.
Here are the recommendations for Citrix from Trend: Oh, we also don't use the Firewall add-on because we have a network firewall. That makes sense right? The only thing that I know of that got past Trend Deep Security was a cryptolocker knockoff that came in through email.
It worked its way through our public drive but that's backed up every 12 hours so we did a restore, rebooted the machine, nixed the user's UPM data, and had a chat with the end user about things not to do with email. Trend's Deep Security has been great as far as I am concerned.
SEP on the other hand has always a nightmare on workstations. Deep Security is practically perfect for VDI. I have that in most all of my larger clients.
Citrix submitted 1 year ago by DSF Want to add to the discussion? Highly recommend moving to Deep Security if you're able to. What was their reasoning? Our customers mostly use Sophos. Follow this article to a tee:
