Do you go first to shape the guitar signal before adding all effects? I'm playing around and would like to know where and why others chose how they did.
Barnzy , Apr 20, Apr 20, 2. I moved it around a few times until I found where I liked it best. Apr 20, 3. Apr 20, 4. Apr 20, 5. My amp only has volume and tone kob pro jr.. Apr 20, 6. I have two eq pedals as well, one in the dirt loop after all the dirtiness , and one after the looper itself. All my effects are in the looper 2 channel. The 'after the looper' eq is always on, and sometimes adjusted, the 'in the dirt loop' eq is always set to a low-mid boost to add oooommmmph to the dirt section whenever I want to take over the sonic space.
Ahab3 , Apr 20, Apr 20, 7. It all depends on how many pedals do you have in your signal chain. I prefer the have the EQ the first pedal since it may affect how other pedals are behaving.

Once that sounds good, you start adding pedals. An EQ pedal just seems to be admitting you don't really like the sound of your base rig. I have mine at the very After dirt before modulation. ComanchePlayer , Apr 20, Apr 21, I have been experimenting with a 4-band parametric EQ recently Boss PQ , and I find I like it towards the end of the chain, with only delay and reverb after it.

I personally find it both amusing and curious that people dismiss EQ pedals because they feel that using one contaminates the "Guitar straight into the Amp" purity of tone.
While I do appreciate that basic concept. And I can hear at times that using certain pedals can substantially dilute the tone The thing is that to really have "pure" Guitar into Amp tone you would have to use a guitar with a pickup running just through a volume pot plugged into an amp with just a volume pot. No tone controls on guitar or amp. On almost all guitars and guitar amps you have tone controls, and circuitry running through all of those pots.
They shape the tone, adding to or rolling off frequencies. A good EQ pedal or unit can help fine tune tone, especially when a particular guitar may have a somewhat muddy or over bearing lower end, or a particularly shrill high end. Or you just want to add a bit of fullness to the middle. On top of that, every room you play in can substantially alter your tone. You can have a to die for tone at home, and then at some gig you are in a room where you hate your tone EQ can make all the difference in the world.

Sep 17, I run mine through the amp effects loop and use it to cut a little bass when I switch from single coil to humbucker equipped guitar. GeeDub , Sep 17, You must log in or sign up to reply here.
